About the Studio

The Troy University Clarinet Studio is comprised of some of the most interesting undergraduate and graduate students on the planet. Some are music majors and some are not, yet all students participate in weekly clarinet lessons and frequent performances on and off-campus. Studio classes are required for music majors and frequent visits from guest artists add a little spice to the schedule. At Troy University, clarinetists can participate in: the “Sound of the South” marching band, Symphony Band, Campus Band, two Concert Bands, various solo and ensemble performances, and Clarinet Choir. This work provides students with excellent opportunities to learn and grow as musicians.

Although live auditions are preferred, audio or video auditions are acceptable if travel distance is a problem. Undergraduate auditions typically consist of two contrasting solos/etudes, selected scales, and sight-reading.
